You may be wondering what COVA is. COVA represents a learner-centered, active learning approach, where each letter signifies a key principle:

C - Choice: Empowering learners to make decisions about their learning paths.

O - Ownership: Encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning experiences.

V - Voice: Valuing students' perspectives and allowing them to express their ideas.

A - Authentic: Fostering real-world connections and relevance in learning activities.

This approach aims to create a more engaging and effective educational environment. (Harapnuik, 2018).

I am currently using COVA in my portfolio. I choose what information to include, allowing for personalized learning experiences. I take ownership of my learning through reflection, which helps deepen my understanding. Additionally, I incorporate my ideas that relate to real-world problems, fostering authenticity in my work. This approach makes my learning more relevant and impactful. Using the COVA approach has significantly transformed my learning experience in class. By emphasizing choice, I feel more empowered to select topics and resources that genuinely interest me, which enhances my motivation. Taking ownership through reflection has encouraged me to critically assess my understanding and progress, allowing continuous improvement.

Additionally, integrating my ideas and connecting them to real-world problems has made learning more meaningful.

COVA will guide me in shaping a career path that is successful and closely aligned with my passions and aspirations. By embracing choice, I can pursue opportunities that resonate with my interests, ensuring a more fulfilling professional journey. Taking ownership of my learning will empower me to adapt and grow continuously while leveraging my unique perspectives to tackle real-world challenges will enhance my contributions to the field. This approach will ultimately lead to a more meaningful and impactful career.
